This is a wonderful piece of stoneware advertising Metcalf Oli Co. - 25 Years Of Service, Phone 870, in Indianola Iowa. Indianola is also the home of Simpson College just south of Des Moines, Iowa.
Neat little bow measuring 7" wide by 4" high. There are no chips, flakes or hairline fractures. There are 2 small glaze pops which do not affect the value negatively, but are part of the production process. Very neat old crockery bowl.
HISTORY: Yellow ware bowls were commonly made from 1850 to 1930 in potteries like Hull, Bennington, Brush McCoy, and Weller. Most yellow ware is not signed, and fell out of favor with American women in the 1930's.
