This is a J C Penny TOWNCRAFT PLUS shirt.... not a run of the mill and NOT an item you will find very often. The Towncraft label is one of my favorite in vintage clothing for men. This is a PLUS label, more exclusive and certainly more ELUSIVE!

The long sleeve shirt with set in sleeves has a single button at the shaped cuff. PERFECT pattern match on the collar and front of the shirt as well as on the POCKETS! This took extra fabric and EXTRA care in design. Those pockets are not only perfectly matched to the front of the shirt but.... are perfectly matched to each other!

The shirt has a yoke, button tab at the collar and white Lucite buttons. The collar and cuff have interfacing and detail top stitching.

This fabric is SOFT as cashmere! It is a matte finish, not shiny. The colors are DARK navy blue and soft gray back ground plaid with accent in the plaid of gold, charcoal, and deep teal blue. GORGEOUS!

The fabric is 100% rayon per the hang tag with advertising: " UNUSUALLY SOFT / a Fashion Fabric for Rich, Appearance and Long Wear. Imported European Fabric Tailored in the U.S.A. Take a soft brushed 100% Rayon, design with Penny's proportioned patterns for a perfect fit, and you have a sport shirt that's subtly elegant and supremely comfortable."

They said it all! The sticker tag is priced at $5.00! Wish I could buy hundreds!

Measurements are taken laying item flat and measuring straight across. In inches: Chest: 42, Sleeve from center back to cuff: 33, Across upper back : 18 & 1/2. Neck size 15 - 15.5, is what is on the tag. That is a vintage size MEDIUM.

IMMACULATE / unworn and ready to wear. This shirt is in above excellent condition. MORE terrific old store stock shirts to be added to the shop so stay tuned!
