Here is a duck lovers dream plate and would make a wonderful gift!! The artist has made you feel like you are actually at the shore line watching this graceful pair of Mallard drakes about to land on the pond. He has painted the two Mallards with beautiful naturalistic colors and carefully added the shoreline on each side of the plate. There, the artist painted a soft green-brown very much like one see's in the early Fall. Flowers of yellow and purple with foliage on one side with a few sprigs of catails, there are two small water lilies on the other. He has balanced the pair of ducks evenly centered within the image. The artist has painted the blue of the water and the blue of the sky as almost one with a slightest variation separating the two hues of blues. This piece does have a small chip on the underside of the rim, but it is not noticeable from the front. Please see pictures. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc. I am not a duck lover but this plate truly made me stop and go AAAAAAH VERY VERY NICE!!
