Well, Haviland out did themselves this time! The exquisite gold and the gracefulness of the Wave pattern make this a "must have" oyster plate. This piece has sponge gold applied on a beautiful cobalt blue rim. The cobalt blue flows wonderfully ever so slightly into the beautiful white center background giving it the flow blue result . Beautiful gold chrysanthemums are painted with raised gold enamel on the cobalt background. This piece has five sections for the oysters and an additional center section. A similar one can be seen in the reference book “Jeffrey Snyder's Collecting Oyster Plates”. There is minimal rub wear on a single gold chrysanthemums, but considering it could be 138 years old, it’s awesome. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.

This would be a magnificent addition to any fine oyster plate collection!
