Lovely Antique Georgian Silver PASTE Pin

This is an Early piece of Genuine PASTE jewelry. It is an attention getter for sure - the DAZZLING closed back faceted 'jewels' SCREAM from across the room! Eight round stones measuring ~ 7mm are set in silver (as they should be) - each held in place by 8 'prongs'... positioned in a squarish circle. The back of the antique mounting is Rose Gold - may be pinchbeck.

After several centuries of TREASURED use, this RARE paste accessory does show some signs of wear commensurate with its age. Overall the paste stones are in GREAT Shape - one does have a chip on the edge which would not be visible when worn but can be seen up close. The reverse shows signs of repair - obviously someone really loved it & wanted to preserve it for herself (and others in the future). The Hinged Pin Stem & "C" Clasp are replacements (C.1920?) that were securely attached using lead solder. NOTHING to indicate these repairs is visible head-on from the front!
