Wonderful German carved wooden hide horse on wooden wheeled platform, 7-1/2" H. x 7" L, platform 10" long

Dark brown and white hide-covered wooden horse has glass eyes, carved wooden mouth and nostrils, black hooves, and horsehair tail.

Attached by wooden pegs to a stained wooden platform with metal wheels; note: rear wheel missing. There is a paper label attached to the platform, with the name and address of the previous owner.

Mark: Factory stamped "Made in Germany" on underside of platform.

This early toy would have only been affordable to the wealthiest families of the late 19th Century, and the smaller sizes are quite RARE today. When found, they are often in very poor condition and this one, in contrast, is in excellent condition as shown, with very light wear.
