Prominent Bib Necklace Made of Celluloid Chain,and Multi-Colored Bakelite Cherries

This has to be one of the most colorful and cheerful necklaces imaginable. A salmon colored chain is made of celluloid. Hanging from the chain are cherries in red, yellow, green, and orange. The colors are crisp with a glistening patina. The cherries are attached with what one might see as green stems. To further accent this treasure are bakelite molded leaves with great detail. The necklace closes with a celluloid hook that can be fastened anywhere along the chain, but the look is that of a bib necklace.

This is a very popular design, and has been featured in several different books. Although, I have never seen it made in so many colors; the necklaces I have seen havegenerally had simply red cherries. This necklace is very full with eighteen cherries in all; many of the other necklaces have about half as many. As wonderful as I believe the design to be, I am also very partial to this particular necklace for the many striking colors, and the abundance of cherries that give such an ample appearance.

The necklace measures 16 1/2” in length and the cherries extend down about 1/2”. This necklace will make you smile, want to play, and yet can be very serious, as long as one of your co-workers who can’t stop smiling doesn’t burst into laughter.
