Light through darkness...literally, light as brought forth by the instrument of darkness...neither state possible without the other...balance...beauty...illumination.

This necklace is sublime. She comprises 73 carats of natural black druzy-like diamonds from Borneo. Black, yet not so; dark, yet sugared with light. The surface of the stones is primal and incredibly coruscant.

The centrepiece of the necklace features beautiful sea gems. Four baroque golden creme Indonesian keishi pearls form a bridge for the jewel which pends from its centre. A large (12.09x11.85mm) charcoal black Tahitian pearl begins the fall - natural colour, smooth skin, lustrous, shimmering nacre, this pearl is visually round. Beneath it hangs a sibling wildly organic Indonesian keishi pearl, and from it pends a 2.2 carat black diamond briolette.

In counterpoint to the black diamonds, white rose-cut diamonds grace 18K gold wheels that rest between the golden saltwater pearls, that embrace the Tahitian pearl, that crown the black diamond briolette, that nestle against the clasp. All told, there are approximately 2.5 carats in white diamonds.

Rich 18K gold elements play with the warmth of this stunning necklace, from the gold in the diamond rondelles and the wire holding the pearls to the ornately granulated and substantial tongued box clasp.

This jewel is a celebration of life and cannot be replicated...imitated, perhaps, but never replicated. She is currently on display at the prestigious Manika Gallery in San Francisco...
