Carnival items from the early part of the 1900's represented the lighter side of an America that was alternately prospering and sophisticated or devastated by war and domestic conflict. Whatever the country's condition the carnival was a way of letting it all go by - at least for an evening. NO, your monitor is correct, you do see a pink elephant. A wonderful chalkware elephant bank, circa 1920-1930. He is proudly performing by standing up and resting his front feet on a large drum. Adored in green hat, ruffled neck-piece, he is very showy. Standing 12" tall, the bank has no cracks, chips or repairs; the normal paint wear on would find on an item of this age. A great cross-over collectible.
