Nineteenth Century Tin 12-Tube Candle Mold

During the 19th century, candle molds made it possible for families to make inexpensive candles at home. Tin molds were the most affordable, with examples having from one to fifty tubes. This wonderful tin candle mold, circa 1880 - 1900 has twelve tubes in two rows of six. Standing on a rectangular base measuring 6 3/4" long, 3" wide and standing 10 1/2" tall. It has a large ear handle on one side and on the other a ring attachment on the top rim for handling when not in use. Nice heavy construction in excellent condition with minor rust on the top.
