Victorian Brass Open-Work Brooch w/Colored Glass Sets

This is a fabulous Victorian era brooch, circa 1885 - 1900, consisting of a heavy brass layered open-work frame. The background is molded leaves in an antique finish to which is applied an inter-wreath of delicate leaves and four 6-pedal flowers in a shinier finish. Each of the flowers has a small, prong-set purple rhinestone center and the center of the brooch holds a square, bezel-set, faceted, open foil-back, glass stone in a light violet shade. This gem is 3/4" square and 3/8" in depth. The closure mechanism is a heavy pin and open hook. The brooch is 3" long and 1 7/8" in width. Excellent condition with no damages or metal wear; there are age-related spots showing within the center stone. A Victorian beauty.
