SALE 1880s VICTORIAN "In Memory Of" Whitby Jet Portrait Pendant!

Here is a wonderful open "locket" from approximately 1880s, Whitby Jet, high VICTORIAN style! It is monogrammed on the back with I - M - O. That stands for "In Memory Of." The reverse side holds a photograph. In fact, there is one there now, but it dates from the 1940s-50s. It measures 2" by 1 3/4" and hangs from a faceted Whitby jet bail that does have a flake off one edge.

Black became vogue in Victorian times, particularly after the death of Queen Victoria's dear Prince Albert. It was popular for several decades there after.

Overall, this treasure is in excellent antique condition! Just hate to part with it, in fact!
