Before anything let me mention the size of this Parrot, for even though the photos are small this fellow certainly is not. As Hyacinths are large so is this figurine, measuring a surprising 18.25" in height and 4.35" x 5.5/8" at his base. Once you get over his size you are struck by his coloring, a gorgeous cobalt blue that mimics his breathing cousins exactly. His friendly face is next on the list as is his condition, for he is without any sort of damage or repair. I have spotted an area of missed paint on the underside of his beak (see pic) but you would have to get into a VERY undignified position to see it! Although I can't date this piece exactly, I do know it was discontinued by Royal Copenhagen in the 1970's, at which time it sold for $1,600.00. It is VERY well made, heavy (almost 6 pounds) and quite rare. Certain to meet your expectations in person and an uncommon treasure for lovers of the Hyacinth, don't miss it!
